The
apostle states in I Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your
hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh
you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."
Regrettably, the reason that many Christians are giving is weak and
compromising. The distinctiveness and exclusiveness of the Gospel
is watered down to accommodate it to the thinking of the natural man.
As a result, the trumpet is sounding a very uncertain sound. Both
the message and the method are often untrue to the Word of God. Thus,
the non-Christian, who is versed in the philosophies of the world,
has little difficulty making the servants of God look utterly foolish.
If we are to present our Christina faith effectively to the non-Christian
world, we must understand the distinctions between biblical Christianity
and the philosophies that govern the non-Christian's though. We must
grasp the biblical method of presenting our faith to the unbeliever.
In other words, we need to understand and to apply Christian apologetics.
